It's much darker today. I really don't like when the sky is all gloomy and it's cold. It just makes me want to curl up, back in bed, and sleep until it gets warmer and brighter.

Today, when I walked out of Union Station into the chilly morning, this little sparkle of joy came over me as I passed underneath the gigantic, lit-up Christmas wreaths hanging in the three arches of the main facade. Plus, as we finish up this month, I am only in the DC office seven times in the next three weeks! Yay, holidays!

Yay! I'm up to date now. This is the photo I took this morning. We had a Nor'easter possibly hitting us last night, but I think it missed. It's just fricken cold out here. And in good ol' DMV style, it's forecasted to be in the upper 60's this weekend.

It's been awhile, but last week was super busy. A friend from high school was in town, so we just had to have Texas BBQ from Hill Country. (so delish) Then my cousins were in town from the Philippines for a few days during their whirlwind around-the-country-month-long US tour. All the excitement led to long days and not quite making it to the train. I'm pretty sure I had to take the metro at least once last week...
Anyhoo, here's today's photo.

I actually had to wait for traffic (2 vehicles) today before I could stand in the middle of the street to take the picture. Yesterday was a bust since I missed my train by waking up 14 minutes after I should have boarded, and I ended up driving over to West Falls Church to hop on the metro.

I knew it would happen one of these days. When I had first started thinking about getting into this whole rigmarole while I was walking to work one morning, I noticed the trash truck pulling up slowly to the intersection and... just... stopping. So, there it is and we move on to the weekend! Thanks to my co-worker, Brad, who stopped traffic for me at the ass-crack of dawn. (There really is no traffic other than the city runners as you've noticed in the pictures so far... and this trash truck) Nevertheless, it's a good convo starter and Brad and I got into the whole camera thing. These pictures are essentially the first pics I'm taking with my Canon Rebel T4i, and as I told him, it hurts my heart to take these shots in Auto (gasp!) and not raw. But as I've already said before, I am definitely not a photographer. This is not an exercise in producing awesome pictures. Right now, it's just a thing. Here we are at the end of week 2 and it's still a thing. Looking at my calendar for the next few months, it's going to be less of thing since I'm not going to be in the city as much, but we're still doing it.
